Letter From Buck

Lovers of all shapes!

I feel almost completely insane, yet fine. I’m spinning plates,
here. My head will surely pop off soon. Stay tuned.

Lots going on. First, I had a great trip trough the mid-west. Some
memories there I’ll have for a long time. There was some
miracles, some harm, some antics and I broke my all-time
merch sales record in Chicago. Friggin’ rights!

After that, I went to Gateway Mastering facility in Portland, Maine.
My pal Bob Ludwig mastered the Talkin’ Honky Blues. He
seemed to like it. He told stories about Bruce Springsteen and
Tom Waits and the Rolling Stones and AC/DC and you name it.
He even came to see me play the next night! Solid gold!

I made my way to Toronto, making a stop in Montreal long
enough to fall in love and make Sebutone-related plans with
Sixtoo. Bobby’s hair in unacceptably long right now. Scraggy. Had
a red-faced instore at Disquivel and left my brain behind.

Once I got close enough to Toronto to fart on it’s lap, I hooked up
with my old friend Ingram, who I’d last seen in LA. He and I went
to The Price is Right together. He’s a photog, and took all the
snaps for the Honky artwork. We got some good stuff.

Next night was my performance with the symphony. The event
was a fund-raiser for the TSO and all the $500 tickets sold out. I
can’t put the show into words, so forget it. I cried and sweated a
lot, ok? Afterwards, Josh Groban told me he was a big fan and I
got invited out to dinner with Robbie Robertson.

So next up, is the show in NYC with Northern State, at the Bowery
Ballroom. Come see me. Next night I’m going to make a little
appearance with my label-mates Blue Rodeo at B.B. King’s. And
then the NEXT night, I’m going to hook up with Radiohead. I also
gotta spend some time conspiring with DJ Signify, because we
got some big ideas. Je-sus!

Next week, we got the video shoot for Wicked and Weird in the
desert with dogs and girls. And there’s the NHL awards on the
12th which you can catch on CBC in Canada, or ESPN in the US.
The show will kick off with a thing I’ll have written special for the
event.

Oh yeah, so the Wicked & Weird 12″ will be out soon, and
there’s something you need to know. The b-side is called ‘What’s
Wrong With That’, and it’s kind of a joke, ok? It’s a bit of a
piss-take on all this garage rock hysteria going on right now. It’s
intended for you to laugh your ass off, so don’t take it too
seriously. Deal?

Workin’ on getting this 7″ out, some new t-shirts and various new
merch items. Sixtoo is a boob. Signify is dirty. Sarah Slean will
be there at the Blue Rodeo show, and she’s a miracle. Trust me.
I’m up to my neck. Just collaborated with OD. Be on the look-out.
Heading back to Paris soon for some hello’s. Check out ‘Goin’
Nuts’ by Duke Ellington. That’s me right now. Had 98 emails
waiting in my box today. I’m gonna puke.
