Lenny + Fido

Lenny + Fido

Way back in Grade 11 art we created cartoon murals for the walls of the SCHS school cafeteria. I intened to draw Dino from The Flintstones, but I messed up and decided to make it into an original creation. After Lenny, the dinosaur was finished (with painting help from Colin Joyce) he didn’t seem quite right, so I created and painted Fido myself. I even came up with a brilliant metaphore excuse for him and everything. You see, the dinosaur represents the archaic authority figures and their rules. The caveman represents youth and their enslavement by the rules of the establishment. Yes, all this while I was still developing my views back in my early years of long hair.

The school and my art is to be torn down in the next couple weeks, so Lenny and Fido will not grace another generation of young people with my cartoon wisdom. It is truly a shame, don’t you think? šŸ˜‰
