Fear?

I find it hilarious that people who oppose same-sex marriages (which are fully legal here in Nova Scotia as of last week) tend to make one statement when trying to bring fear to us all and make us not want to allow same-sex marriages. “If we let people marry people of the same sex, the next thing we’ll have to do is let people have multiple spouces.” That’s supposed to make me frightened? I say bring forth those changes. Love is the most important force in the world, and I oppose any attempt to limit it. Polyamoury is as beautiful as monogamy. Love in threads or webs is divine, and we should be enbracing it, not enslaving it.

  1. *hugs all of Nova Scotia for legalizing same-sex marriages*

That is such great news, Apollo.

I can’t really define how I feel about polygamy at this point. I’m going through a really confusing time right now because I’m falling in love with my best friend who is very much married. If I could ever be with him, I don’t think I’d be comfortable with sharing him with another woman. All the same, I do understand how it’s possible to love more than one person at a time.

    Life is strange, isn’t it?

    1. It is indeed great news.

I personally feel that polyamoury has to be fully concentual for everyone involved, and I don’t know how it could possibly work without the love being fully formed between each person. Just as a relationship between two people becomes a full sharing of self, I would expect a polyamorous group to share themselves with all those involved. I’m sure there are exceptions to this, as there are in monogamous relationships, but to be a rich relationship I don’t know how they could operate without that sense of equality and openness.

I consider myself polyamorous because I am open to loving multiple people, but I would never wish to impose that on people who didn’t embrace it themselves. Like I said, it has to be something sincerely chosen by everyone involved.

I usually don’t see life as strange. It all makes so much sense when you can see the cycles and what drives people. It’s remarkable how simple everything can be while seeming so complex.
