The video for Klassy‘s “Power Trip” brings forward the heartbreaking evils of xenophobic immigration policies and makes a powerful track even more so.
“Power Trip” captures the harsh reality of immigration/migration laws within our country and its impact on communities of color. It follows an immigrant mother (Klassy) who is separated from her American-born son and placed into detention along with other undocumented women and children. On the outside, Ruby Ibarra relentlessly works to free Klassy, representing the community work that goes into advancing the rights of undocumented folk and the obstacles associated with this broken system.
