On Canada Day I took Celestine to Citadel Hill for the first time. It was free admission for the day and I expected she might be quickly bored with historical things. It turned out she did move quickly around the site but was engaged the whole two hours of our visit, always bringing her map along. I was most surprised by how enthusiastic she was to be exploring the dark tunnels in the fortress walls, with only natural light coming in from small windows.
I watched Riverdale for the first two seasons with friends but fell off when we moved out of the house we shared. I learned that the devil, time travel and supernatural powers arrived for the final two seasons. I’m tempted to catch up since there’s even more of those Archie Horror elements added in. Would anyone warn me off spending that time?
I was very into Found magazine and the Found book for a couple years. I loved seeing the many bewildering things that they documented. I was surprised to see a new Found book from those folks was released last year.
I remember enjoying founder Davy Rothbart’s short story collection The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas a lot too.
There’s a mural from last week’s festival on Sir Charles Tupper School that is still obscured by the lift used in painting it. It’s a beautiful piece and it will be nice to capture when it’s fully visible.
