Dungeons & Dragons has been a huge part of my gaming life and is a rewarding way to interact with friends. Fifth edition D&D is very accessible and offers a rich, multifaceted gaming experience. Playing it and other tabletop RPGs can be a wonderful experience, but it can be daunting and the cost can keep people from playing. There is a free way to start, though.
Basic Rules for Dungeons & Dragons is a 180 page PDF that covers the core rules and building blocks of the game. Of course there are dozens of other books and countless resources available to enrich the D&D experience, but if you want to start playing it’s a good way to dive in.
Set in a medieval fantasy world, D&D allows you to experience stories and adventures full of endless possibilities and amazing surprises. The Basic Rules for Dungeons & Dragons is a PDF that covers the core of the tabletop game.
Basic Rules for Dungeons & Dragons
The Basic Rules runs from levels 1 to 20 and covers the cleric, fighter, rogue, and wizard, presenting what we view as the essential subclass for each. It also provides the dwarf, elf, halfling, and human as race options; in addition, the rules contain 120 spells, 5 backgrounds, and character sheets. But the best part? The Basic Rules is a free PDF. Anyone can download it from our website. We want to put D&D in as many hands as possible, and a free, digital file is the best way to do that.
If you don’t have dice, there are many tools out there to roll digitally, including Dungeons & Dragons Dice Roller.
