I’ve been moving my fediverse presence over to my Cozy Mech account at https://cozymech.com/@apollo so I’m reworking how I record things for my digests. Embedding doesn’t work for Pleroma, the platform I use, so I will be quoting and linking to my posts there.

We visited Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park this morning and Celestine wanted to leave the gift shop with this snail.
I’ve set it up but there seems to be a very small upload file size limit by default. I was able to upload small images but not photos at full size. I can’t seem to find nginx settings where I expect them to be to change the client_max_body_size or any other way to fix that limit.
Tomorrow marks 5 years on the fediverse on this account for me. It’s fitting I’m about to wrap this up and move to my closet-hosted @apollo@cozymech.com .
The latest XenoChat episode finally covers the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC game Future Redeemed. It has spoilers for the Xeno* metaseries. It was fun to hear the hosts talk about the mechanics and story for this game.
In 1994 my family traveled to Vancouver Island as part of a Summer-long road trip across Canada and the United States. One of the memorable items brought back was this print of a painting of a Kwakiutl mask. It hung in my parents’ home for years and has been in our own closet since moving to where we live now. I remember being fascinated by the mask while growing up. Today I took the print out of its frame to scan it and store it with some other prints and was able to capture the description on the back, which uses some terms no longer used.
When I was a kid I poured countless hours into Mordor – The Depths of Dejenol, a D&D-inspired dungeon crawler on Windows. It was a game of limited visuals and was mostly a grinding experience, but it kept my attention. The game can be played through emulation now and I had fun watching this video of it being played.
The Doom That Came to Atlantic City has some of the nicest board game player pieces. This reverse Monopoly game is brimming with great Lovcraftian aesthetics and these are probably the peak of it all.
When I worked in an office regularly I built the habit of putting https://www.checkiday.com/ on our interactive flat panels to see what days had been invented. It was a fun distraction from troubleshooting, supporting agents, or coaching and gave us something to discuss or joke about each day. I wouldn’t have almost missed Towel Day if I was still in that habit.
This article is an account of life near what is now Point Pleasant Park in my city. It can be startling that living memory includes when Halifax’s makeup was very different.
We borrowed Marit Larsen’s Agnes’s Place from the library last week. It’s been fun to read it to Celestine and marvel over Jenny Løvlie’s illustrations. The endpapers, though, are a hidden marvel with elements from throughout the book.
