I started the week wrapping up my throwback to one of my first fantasy game creations and ended fleshing out a new neighbourhood for the city.

I started the week wrapping up my throwback to one of my first fantasy game creations and ended fleshing out a new neighbourhood for the city.

Druver III

The goblin Druver is the third in his family to have his name, and he runs his namesake inn with pinache. Hosting guests has been a family passion for generations and Druver has a personal conviction to bring all the joy he can to others. Druver inspects rooms, greets guests, and takes an active role in ensuring his establishment keeps its reputation for being a wonderful space to be in.

Lockfolk of The Gardens

Six animated metal statues live in The Gardens. The statues each have two heads and a mesh-like form. The statues collect love locks from visitors to the garden which they attach to their bodies and keep safe as a symbol of lasting relationships. The Lockfolk perform stunningly athletic dances at noon each day and spend evenings resting in surprisingly difficult to reach perches.

The Weekly Panels

A weekly newspaper composed entirely of comics is published from a press in The Workshops. A dozen comic creators are retained as staff, while many more are regular contributors. Comics are published online daily, and civic engagement has been noticeably enhanced by the paper’s accessible presentation of events.

The Rain Sector

A section of the city northeast of The Ambulatory Neighbourhood is perpetually receiving rain. Buildings here tend to have large overhangs for those sensitive to rain, but most residents here have chosen the place for its rain and watery environment. Access to The Slow Snake River in the eastern edge of the neighborhood has made it a stopping point for river traffic.

The Water Market

Along the shore of The Slow Snake River in The Rain Sector is a market filled with goods that can tolerate prolonged exposure to water. Here seafolk sell clothing, bags, accessories, and foods prized in their underwater communities. Locals sell magically-enhanced goods fit for use in wet places. A blue statue of an octopus rises above the market stalls in the centre of the market, making it hard to miss when traveling by river.

Macci Nodbun’s Bubble Bags

Macci Nodbun uses the same magics that form homes in The Bubbles to produce bubbles that she shapes into bags. She sells her bags at The Water Market and can barely keep up with demand for her waterproof, versatile creations. Macci’s extended family helps out at her stall and there are always rabbitfolk hopping about and braving the rain.

The Ship House

A home made out of recovered wood from shipwrecks is one of the notable structures in The Rain Sector. The house is entirely asymmetrical, with some shapes of ship hulls being obvious and other spots having typical architecture. The house is sprawling and is home to multiple families. The materials for the house were transported by river over the course of years and occasional renovations or expansions still happen.
